Norfolk Botanical Garden, 3/23/09

Sun salutation, originally uploaded by katirae.

Today, Nate and I spent some time in the tropical pavilion at NBG, and I had a lovely time taking pictures of flowers that are totally not in season at the moment.

Apologies

Those of you who know me know that I just don't do the whole blog updating thing the way I should, but that's me. Here are some of my favorite shots from the last few months to make up for lost time. ;)

Experiments with long exposure

It's important (to me, anyway) to note that most of the learning I've done about photography has been a result of an informal photo challenge that I regularly participate in on an online forum that doesn't have anything at all to do with photography. It has really encouraged me to stretch my creative muscles and learn about my camera and what I can produce with it.

So, this last week's photo challenge topic was "long exposure." The following photos are the ones I came up with in playing with the idea.

Sunrise at Sandbridge

I'm so not a beach person- sand drives me crazy. But at the same time, you can't beat the beach for a stunning sunrise. Yesterday morning, I made the not-so-terrible trek out to Little Island Pier (aka Sandbridge Pier) for sunrise. It was cold, but worth it, even if just for the peace and quiet.

First post

Welcome to my photo blog. I hope to be able to catalog some of my photography here to make it a little more attractive than my good ol' Flickr account. That, and I'm going to try not to bog down the family blog with the results of my photo field trips.
